So I decided to give this 300v oil a shot as I found it for a good price. Looking to do an oil change tomorrow.

But I just realized, after waiting for a week for it to arrive, that I bought the wrong damn oil. I bought the "4T" instead of the "Power" type. Meaning it's for a 4 stroke racing motorcycle.

So the question is. Is this stuff safe to use in my car and how long will it last if it is safe?

If it's a bad idea to use it, I'll find some Mobil 1 Super 3000 5W-40 locally and use that instead.

Indeed. You risk wrecking your engine. Get an oil that’s to the appropriate VW spec too.

As I thought. Super 3000 it is.

Guess I'll try a double Ester oil when spring comes around. I'll try not to buy a motorcycle oil then.

    No, no , no...

Honestly it's getting to the point where I could make a career out of oil
( I have already been asked ) the misinformation the misunderstanding about oil is like nothing else on car forums .

    504.00 .

You seem to know about oil.

Any reason to choose a 504.00 over a 502.00 oil for a car that does not drive over 10.000km om an oil change? 503 and 504 are longlife spec, right?

A big difference in oil performance , yes 504.00 is LongLife .

Shouldnt a 502 oil "clean" better than a 504 oil? Or is that just a BS myth?

I just want the best I can get for performance, protection and consumption for short intervals.

504 will clean better as additive package concentration is higher with more detergents and dispersants with their polar heads with hydrocarbon tails !

Plus PAO oil basestock of 504 can hold more detergents .

I see. So other than cost, there's no reason to run a 502 over a 504 Even for short intervals?

How about ester core oils, like the 300v, would there be any real benefits for using it for street use and the occational spirited drive/track day?

Track use Motul 300V or one of the other Ester Racing marketed oils such as Miller's , Fuchs , Gulf , Red Line, etc .

No reason at all to use an old out of date , lesser performing , medium quality oil when you can use 504 high quality .

    I guess I need to find a 504 spec 5W-40 or 0W40 then.

I thought Castrol made a 5W-40 504 spec but I just looked it up and only found 502.

I'll see what I can find tomorrow, not really looking to go back to 0W-30 as the consumption was reduced a bit when I switched to 0W-40.

Your only choice is an Ester Racing marketed oil .

Too bad I screwed up and didn't notice the huge motorcycle on the picture of the 300V I ordered online. Haha.

The only place locally who has that kind of stuff is closed for the summer so I'll just use the same kind of oil I have in it now for this service. (Right now I got 502 00 0W-40 from Mobil 1 in it)

    Just 505 00. I believe the 5W-40 is 502 00 / 505 01

    That's even worse .

    Poor 502.00 505.00
    Medium 502.00 505.01
    High 504.00 507.00
