I’m at a loss, please help! S3 8V intermittent rough idle.

@Leedavies_S3 was this sorted in the end? The intake n205 correct the problem?

I have all the same, done everything of the above namely, Plugs, Coils, PCV, Catch tank - going to send the top set injectors in for cleaning within the next day or so (was done about 12 months ago)

I am curious as although im getting multiple misfires on Cyl 4 which is leading me to the injectors i had and still have this issue with the Over performance Camshaft fault (I think its P0011) which might be attributed to these listed above.

wouldnt it be better to switch 3 and 4 injectors around to see if that shifts the problem to cylinder 3 first?

It does make sense but have the opportunity to get them checked and cleaned for free so just delving straight in
I was just curious so that if it doesn't solve the probe 100% I know where to look next

Fair enough. I'd still switch them round though in case its failing rather than just blocked / dirty

It turned out to be my n205 bud, sent it into Audi and they replaced it under warranty.

Just found this post. I have a 14 S3 8v with exactly this issue. It tends to be when the car is cold or restarted. Mainly cold, maybe 1 Mile down the road and boom. Splutters and burbles temporarily. If you rev it up or change down you can almost shake it off. But if it was stationary and idling, it sounds like it’s going to splutter to a stop. Just for a few seconds intermittently.
It had a new chain under warranty (apparently) but more worryingly is that the gearbox has shown up some faults.
Any help appreciated!

inspection is due soon….

Since they did the chain its been like this?

Sorry for late replies

it was like it when I bought it (must have been warm when I viewed it) ((bring back old school temperature dial!))

i sent it back and they said it was a stretched chain. They then ‘replaced the chain’ and I got it back. ….. it’s exactly the same.
but definitely worse when cold.

I find it odd that they "replaced the chain". A stretched chain is a fairly rare occurrence to my knowledge and is not a trivial job. You would think they'd have noticed it hadnt fixed the problem as well. This all just seems a bit odd. Is it still under some kind of warranty? If so send it back, although tbh I'm not sure I'd want whoever did this work looking at my car.

It might well be the PCV valve that needs replacing (google it for symptoms and fault identification) . That's usually the first thing to check for a rough idle and its quite a common fault. Following that the cam position sensors. But really if its running rough then an audi garage or specialist should be able to find and and sort it.

Thanks for this mate

yes I totally agree regarding the chain.

On a positive note, I replaced the cam adjuster magnets and it’s pretty much cured it, the rough misfire when cold has gone. This forum is far more helpful than any garage!

now, onto the next problem
