I need to swap the S-tronic shifter with a new one that I received together with the leather interior. It has a boot with stitching that matches stitching on all the other parts of the interior. I did such a swap before on a manual 8P sportback. It was easy that time. But my s-tronic shifter looks different from what I saw before. Before, there was a metal ring on the base of the knob that held it on the rod. It had to be removed first. But my 2019 shifter doesn't have this ring. There's just plastic. I can turn the lower part and it clicks as if it locks/unlocks. But what next? Should I unlock it and pull the knob up? I don't want to break anything. Any advise or precaution would help. Thanks in advance!
