The availability (or not) of wireless CarPlay is a territory thing.
Sadly one territory that is wired only is UK. It’s been that way for a couple of years and a very annoying omission.
Mine works Wireless
Are you in the UK and when did you take delivery?

I spoke with the dealer today and wireless Apple CarPlay is now standard on factory build S3. Not sure from when but did say eats the phone battery.

Was your car built October onward and does it have thesame software andversion as shown inthe video? - collectively we think they changed some hardware/software to allow later cars to connect wirelessly.
I’ve been having a rough time with Audi on my A3 which is now being rejected to due to an inherent fault with the MMI, but I have been querying CarPlay wireless and traffic sign recognition missing from the build.
I’ve been told various bits of “advice” that ranges from bizarre to useful but frustrating.
One dealer sales manager told me that wireless CarPlay doesn’t work in the UK as our military use that frequency here. But couldn’t explain why other A3 owners and other models in the range have it?!
The most sensible feedback I have had was that from build week 39 in 2020 the wireless carplay function will be available. Mine was week 30, and there was “no option to update the software build”.
On traffic sign recognition, most think this will come as an option in functions on demand.
This ties up with what my dealer told me when I ordered my car in October last year. He said that Wireless CarPlay was not a feature of the car and he was not able to state when it would be. So I bought the car assuming that I would not get it. (I wasn’t particularly bothered: the way I look at it is that I’m paying a lot of money for the MMI interface, so that’s what I’ll use unless I need a function from CarPlay that’s not available in MMI.)The most sensible feedback I have had was that from build week 39 in 2020 the wireless carplay function will be available. It is somewhat of a mystery as to why it’s not available in the early builds but, to be fair, what the dealer said was true.Lol when VW / Seat offer it in their new models.
More Audi bull.

My S3 has wireless CarPlay and I set it up when I got the car a few weeks back. I’ve since deleted the connection and now use the cars onboard MMI, which I prefer.
Nope, car play worked perfectly ok, I just just prefer the MMI interface. That's interesting bud, I'm not an apple user myself - but out of interest how comes you prefer the mmi?
Was your carplay glitchy?
Handy video I made for any owners who may need help with this:
You have an 8v model not 8Y - You should have USB's in the Armrest - Lift it up and they're at the front - Cable your phone and carplay should come upI bought a second hand 2017 A3 earlier this year and I've been trying to work out how to set up Apple CarPlay with absolutely no luck.
Looking through the forum, it seems it's only an option on newer builds of Audi - is this still true? I have no USB port built into the vehicle, just via the cigarette lighter. The car connects fine to the Bluetooth for the Audi MMI, but I would prefer to use Waze than the built in navigation system as well as being able to use Spotify from the MMI rather than on the phone.
Any suggestions/advice greatly appreciated.
Cheers.

8V is the model you have that was replaced by 8Y March 2020 which has the touchscreenFirst sign that I'm not a "car person" is the 8v vs 8Y model - I'm still clueless.
Second sign is that I've had the car since May and had no idea I had USB ports in the armrest.
That worked for the wired CarPlay - thank you so so so so much.
I assume wireless CarPlay is not an option for my model?
Cheers again.

Press the Home Button and Phone Apps should be one of the tiles and it's under there - Strange thing Wireless Carplay sometimesMy Car play was working wirelessly, however, I switched back to the Audi mmi over it and now I can’t get CarPlay back on? Any ideas?
Mine was working wirelessly until recently when it refused to connect. I think something happened in the Audi App with the WiFi connection. I registered for a free trial with Cubic Telecom and it resolved thingsMy Car play was working wirelessly, however, I switched back to the Audi mmi over it and now I can’t get CarPlay back on?
