Handy video I made for any owners who may need help with this:
I know bud, its annoying but what can I say ... it took them 3 weeks to finally admit it existed and retract their previous "there is no car in the UK that has this" statement.
This was after I showed them video evidence and laughingly they requested chassis numbers of the cars that had it...
I do think the general attitude stinks, our cars had a 1 year old software update placed on it at a time when the latest software existed.
There is no acknowledgement for the fact we were given outdated software when the car was built but instead just a "well its included on the newer built cars".
The problem is no where on the website does it officially state that wireless carplay is available, so its hard to argue the point we should be entitled to it.
When I asked the dealer for the upgrade, they said it is chargeable unless Audi-UK come out and say there is a fault and suggest the upgrade.
Audi-UK see no problem with giving us the older software (when the May version was in existence)
exactly, and my build date was in September 2020 , 4 months after the correct software update was available.I can't understand why they had such old software, you couldn't order the car until March so build dates would have been quite a way ahead anyway
fingers crossed bud, look forward to the update (excuse the pun)...
Hopefully if the do it for you then they could potentially do it for other owners, but all I have got from them so far was build configurations change from time to time, at the time your car was built the october 2019 was the standard image.
Not sure I buy that, but then again it would not surprise if the story changes again.

Hey, on my brand new S3 I have a SNAPSHOT of AUGUST 2020, but it doesn't let me connect to wireless apple carplay.
Any idea why?
It simply stays on normal bluetooth connection
Hey, 2 usb-c in the front (under the MMI), iPhone 11 PRO MAXDo you see Wireless Carplay under Apps on the MMI - What phone are you using
Also do you have 2 x USB-C Connectors or 1 normal USB and 1 USB-C
Hey, 2 usb-c in the front (under the MMI), iPhone 11 PRO MAX
I see nothing regarding wireless CarPlay, only Audi smartphone interface.
Ok - This might work - On the phone under settings, bluetooth , Audi MMI whatever it is for your phone - Then you have a little i at the end - go into this, there is an option for CarPlay - turn on - also Show Notifications (switch this on for text messages to come through when not on carplay if you want to)
Back to the car press the House Button and make sure phone connected - There should be tile that says Phone APPS - Wireless Carplay should then be an option under there.
That's what I see on my iPhone, and S3 MMI. Hope that helps.
Yes CarPlay does work with the cable.Carplay isn't in your options - I assume you've followed the video from Azzum above
Does it work plugged in with a cable
Try removing your phone from the MMI and forget the network on the phone and start again
Yes CarPlay does work with the cable.
I've tried removing the phone from the MMI and forgeting \ reseting everything on the phone + MMI memory (of the phone). But still nothing
If anybody knows what may cause the "problem" and help me solve this i'd be very happy,That's what I see on my iPhone, and S3 MMI. Hope that helps.

08/2020 SNAPSHOT, yet the wireless CarPlay doens't work or even pop up as an option
This is starting to become ****** ridiculous!Hey, on my brand new S3 I have a SNAPSHOT of AUGUST 2020, but it doesn't let me connect to wireless apple carplay.

To give them the benefit of the doubt, maybe Audi are getting the configurations available in different countries confused? (For anyone who hasn’t delved into the depths of the A3 options, camera based traffic sign recognition is part of the Driver Assistance Pack, available on all trims and, I assume, soon to covered by our favourite Audi YouTube channel.)This is starting to become ****** ridiculous!
On another related note, I have asked about traffic sign/speed sign recognition and this is the reply;
“I can confirm that Camera-based traffic sign recognition is only available as a standard option on the Vosprung Trim”.
What planet are Audi on!?
Lol thanks Adam, it's on the list hopefully in the next month or soTo give them the benefit of the doubt, maybe Audi are getting the configurations available in different countries confused? I though you only need May 2020 and beyond :SLol thanks Adam, it's on the list hopefully in the next month or so
In regards to the snapshot, I wonder if Audi have potentially removed it in later snapshots....
Does anyone else with an August 2020 snapshot have wireless working?
I don't understand, i've asked 4 separate dealerships if these vehicles have wireless carplay yet, every single one of them explicitly advised it DOES NOT have wireless carplay, and will not have it any time soon and there are no plans for it to come to the UK. I've said to a couple of them I've seen people in the UK that have it and they still refuse to accept it and tell me it's not available in the UK and nobody has it. I'm dumbfounded... How can Audi's own staff not know this, I don't understand... there's no mention of wireless carplay anywhere on the website, spec sheet or brochure and every staff member i've dealt with refuses to admit it exists in UK spec. Why is there such a disconnect of information on something as simple as wireless carplay. Audi need to get it together.
Yes i'm from Israel, LHD and no heated seats. Dealership "knows nothing" regarding wireless apple carplay and were shocked when I showcased them your video.Yeah it should do, although just wondering as the guy specifically mentioned August 2020 snapshot, so if someone can confirm they've got the same and it works. It would rule out the odd chance Audi might have removed it for an odd reason.
Is yours a UK car?
Looking at the picture it doesn't seem it as it is missing the heated seats which are standard on UK S3, also looks like it's a left hand drive?
That would explain if you do not have it potentially, as knowing Audi it's probably restricted to regions
Yes i'm from Israel, LHD and no heated seats. Dealership "knows nothing" regarding wireless apple carplay and were shocked when I showcased them your video.
But according to your video I should have everything needed for it to work.. So maybe just coding restriction?
Ok this explains a lot - It will be a restriction for your Country either by Audi or Apple - Cable it is I'm afraid unless it can be coded in at some point
That's interesting, probably worth a go specifically as it's through PayPal and does state it's for the 8y.The German Audi A3 forum seems to think it can be turned on using this - https://obdappshop.de/Audi-Fahrzeug...halten-aktivieren-codieren-programmieren.html - is that something that would work over here? I've just taken delivery on an ex-demo A3 Saloon and it doesn't have wireless carplay.
Obviously I'd be interested, also in how hard it is to do it yourself when the software is presumably in German!
This is the German thread

Translated instructions
This is how it should work: Plug in the dongle => open the bonnet => the ignition on => open the OBDApp on the mobile phone => search for iFace => select and execute coding => if coding is successful, remove dongle => restart MMI if necessary (power button long Hold down until it restarts MMI) => Completely decouple the smartphone in the car and also completely decouple the car on the iPhone (WLAN and Bluetooth) => Dial into the 5GHz WLAN with the mobile phone and pair the iPhone with the car via Bluetooth.

What iPhone did you use to get wireless to work. I’m told it’s something to do with 5GHz and that’s only on iPhone 12.
My car is back at the dealership again tomorrow as they have had a reply from Audi in Germany and have a software update to try.
Thanks Sam, eager to see what software update they do and if your snapshot changes.
The phone I tried was an iPhone xs max.
I don't think it is to do with the phone though (I might be wrong) because the mmi wording was different on that car and it said either connect by usb or wireless.
On my car with the older software the text literally only says connect by usb.

I’ll take some before and after shots, and see what changes.
Initially I was told there is no update and you get what’s installed in the factory.

On the video you did the software version is 3496 May 2020. So must be hardware differences not software.
For me I’m not fussed about CarPlay it’s the 3rd page with the favourites I wanted.
