Does anyone know how to put the windscreen wipers into "service position" on the S3 8v?
There's nothing in my MMI, and have tried turning car on then off then pushing the wiper stalk to different positions....scratching my head on this a bit...

Turn the ignition barrel once, then pull down on the wiper stalk (I.e. the quick wipe). The wipers will stay up then, allowing you to pull them away from the windscreen. To get them down again, just do the same again

thanks a lot guys!
i had tried very similar stuff but i think didn't hold the stalk down long enough....or maybe too much....but now I have got it....thanks!

Brute force ;)

I wish the audi wipers had the same design and process my focus had, they were the karma sutra of wipers. Put them in any position you like, even out of sequence, and they always returned to the correct position once the ignition was turned on.

There's also a VCDS mod which adds a wiper service option to the MMI menus.

Good call PanamaS3, been wondering how you do this from day 1 but felt too much of a d*ck to ask!! :)

More detailed info pls....

  1. Control Module 09 - Central Electronics
  2. Adaptation - 10
  3. Channel = (13) Windshield wiper-Menuesteuerung Frontwischer
  4. Set to = Active
  • Usage: Car > Systems > Servicing & Checks > Wiper.chg.pos > On/Off
*I've had one instance where this mod did not work. The car in question was a 2015 1.4COD.

Step 1. Open the manual, find the index.
Step 2. Find the section on windsceen wiper operation and turn to that page
Step 3. Read until you discover how to put the wipers into service position
Step 4. Put your new knowledge into practice

I am therefore very happy not to be a 'real man', I have to obtain a manual for everthing before I have even purchased it...

You do not need to put them back in the park position either. Drive off and a few seconds later they park themselves.

lol got them up OK! But couldn't get them down without going all ignition lights on and then flick wipers :)

...and therefore are incapable of using the £30k car they bought properly as a result!

.....I couldn't honestly say that being previously unable to put my wipers into the service position was exactly keeping me up at night, far more important things to think about!

£30k??? yer bleedin cheapskate...........mine was nearer 40 ;)

For the TDI turn to the 1st click to power up the instrument panel, then turn back to take the key out, then pull down the wiper stalk. To move them back just do all the same process.

@garnier Did you try this?

You need to hold the wiper stalk down for a few seconds
