dude, 5 mins with the sensor once the floor pan is off... 5? really?
its unplug and plug. done. you do not need to take off the tray at all, you just need enough room to get your hand in. it is so simples. honestly, it really baffles me and some peoples interpretation of difficult. a few screws and a quick release connector.
god forbid if a light bulb blows, god forbid.
What did you want me to say? A minute? 90 secs ?
On average, it will take about 5 mins to familiarise yourself where the sensor is, how it disconnects and how to route and tie wrap the wiring up through to the top of the engine bay in the neatest and best manner.
If you were to do it a 2nd time on a 2nd car 6 months later it would perhaps take you 3 mins if you were timing yourself against the clock. However, I didnt realise it was a race.
Go on then, tell me how many seconds it took you to do counting from the very first second you removed the under-tray? You knew exactly where the sensor was, how it disconnected, how to route the wiring up to top and the best place to use the tie wraps to keep it free from snagging? You done all this on a jack with the underside of the car a few inches off the tip of your nose and you done all this in what? A minute? Go you. Well done. You're a hero.
It is much easier to do as a newbie with the undertray off. Apparently some can get their skinny arms down from the top and do it but if you're to follow the instructions and do the job properly step by step then you will be taking the undertray off and doing the job properly.
Moral of the story is, don't mis advise people. The guy is clearly struggling to do it and you're taking the **** like you're some god telling him he's stupid and that it's a piece of ****. Someone that is unfamiliar with tools will not find it a piece of ****. Simple as that. Do not mis advise. This isn't an isolated finding, I've counted over 10 threads on the subject between both forums from people who have struggled.
You're clearly a hero though and you're clearly racing the stopwatch (and you're clearly cutting corners) The undertray takes a couple of minutes to remove, why not just do the job properly? Have a good look instead of squeezing hands in and bending undertrays putting stress on other attachment screws.
My advice mate, spend that couple of extra minutes doing the job properly and don't listen to internet hero's who think it's a competition to beat the stop clock.
I stand by my 5 mins.
