Cheers for the reply, OK so I have checked with my Multi Meter and i'm getting conductivity on the cabling. is there away of checking the can low and can high voltage? i'm assuming the mirror is faulty.

If you have checked for continuity on the complete loom, have a solid earth and 12v then I would reverse your CAN wires. If you still have no connection then you have a faulty mirror

Hello,

As soon as I remove the mirror the fault goes and, just say High Beam assist fault, i've checked the Voltage Low Can is .04 v and High Can is 3.4 volts so i'm assuming its the Mirror.

Ok so have it working now but the Auto dimming Mirror is not working, would this need some different coding? I have Drivers and Passenger side dimming Mirrors to. Any Ideas?

Ok so this is the fault codes I have now, Any Ideas? Remembering I have Passenger and Driver side Dimming Mirrors which are not working, whih I understand are controlled by the Main Dimming Mirror. Coding? Faulty Mirror?

Well you still have a communication issue with the control module / mirror. If you have checked power and cabling then it’s a pretty safe bet that your mirror is at fault.

Hello guys
I don't knoe if you are still active on this thread but I need some help.
I own an Audi A3 8V (2013) with Bi-Xenon headlight, no Light/Rain sensor (only humidity) and normal rear view mirror (with no wires).
I've bought the Rain/Light sensor and the switch with AUTO, everything works perfectely but I wanted to retrofit HBA too (remember, normal mirror, no wires with conector in the headliner beside the one for humidity sensor, now Light/Rain sensor) and I've bought the wire kit that goes into the mirror (5 wires: 1 mass (ground), 1 red-white (says it goes into PIN 1 for OBD2 port) 1 white (goes into dome light) and 2 ones for CAN High and Low).
My car comes equiped with CAN High so no problems there.
I managed to connect the CAN wires to the footwell connector and without any changes into VCDS/OBD11 when I push the stalk there is a message (High Beam Assist System Fault) meaning there is curent passing through the wires. But it doesn't work, neither is auto dimming for the mirror itself.
Trying to activate module 20 in OBD11 for High Beam Assist doesn't do anything, it says that control unti doesn't respond (like not installed I guess)
What did I do wrong? What could it be the problem?

Hi firstly do you definitely have the high can also what mirror are you using as the standard mirror isn’t comparable for hba as it’s most likely be down to the mirror if all wiring is correct think it’s pin 17 and 19 on the can gateway can high/low and power from pin 1 on the diagnostic socket .

When you say pre facelift you do mean 8v yes ? If not I think you'd have to upgrade you central electrics module

I have installed genuine VCDS now and managed to read the fault codes from the mirror correctly now, It looks like the mirror is trying to find the control unit for the matrix headlights, is there anyway I can code it so it is not looking for it and causing a fault?

To be honest I would need to connect to the car and see what coding is available. Long time since I have done a HBA retrofit.

I have changed the setting to link into the can-bus through the adaptions setting so now it is using the can-gateway to communicate with the different control units on my a3 8v PFL where before it was connected through single wire?, the only control unit with no communication is the headlight control unit which I would imagine it’s trying to talk to the matrix-beam control units which my car does not have, @DJAlix can you remote in on my VCDS?

Managed to sort this, I just bought the mirror with the HBA camera in instead of the Matrix camera Mirror…

Is there anyway to make the camera react quicker or more sensitive to oncoming light? Finding when driving the HBA activates in complete darkness but then if someone is driving towards me it doesn’t always turn off?
