I get a strange drone/hum and doing a bit of research, its could be the torque converter. How much would it cost to be replaced?

Well, if you choose a rip off main dealer - probably an arm and a leg........but an independant probably just an arm.....

The TC isn't too dear, it's the fact the gearbag will have to come out to fit it. Make sure it's the TC that has failed.. Go to a specialist and get it checked first. What car is it?

i have a new TC that i got for a 2001 VW Passat 1.9 TDI if you want one cheap, They cost over £400 from main dealer and if i remeber right, its main dealer only, I got one for a Passat i once owned, fitted it, and it was the gear box problem in the end and not a TC,

Its a a4 2003 1.8t quattro. I'll have to check with a specialist first i suppose, but reading about it points to the TC.

Well phoned a VW/Audi specialist near me and they quoted a days work (£350 labour) to change the torque converter, but they said to bring it in for diagnostic first to make sure.
