Hot air issue

Ok so here is a strange one when I press auto on the clima unit set to 20 Celsius,cool air is blown from the vents facing the cabin.
When window defrost is pressed hot air comes out the vents under the windshield…
Any ideas what could cause the issue?

Erm, your car temperature is more than 20°c or the thermister is knackered.

I think the windows defrost mode over-rides the temp settings to get max hot air onto the windscreen.

Even so,I should get some warm air from the auto at 20 degrees
