Hi was checking my doors on 2002 A3, when i noticed 2 holes about 1 cm diameter that appear to have been drilled in the bottom of the door.

Can anyone explain why this would have been done? I am completely shocked to see it, my first Audi and she has been penetrated

If someone could shed some light on this rather shocking find, it may ease the pain! Thanks!

wow, never seen holes like that before, cant think of any reason for them being there....hopefully someone else can shed some light in to why

Maby some one had lost sumthink in the door and decided to dill holes to find it?!
you never know with some people
little bit of filler and paint youll never
they could also be extra drainage holes :nyah:

Thats shocking, how did you miss that when you were buying the car?

Its started to rust as well, make sure you clear that up before you do any filling.

Looks like someone used a blunt holesaw to do those. I would imagine someone didnt realise where the Audi drainage holes were and instead of clearing them, went a bit native and hacked huge holes using the same tool they had just fitted a tumble drier vent with...... LOL

I would at least whack some hamerite or similar around them and stick a 1 inch rubber bumg or two in them to fill them up and hopefully look a bit OE

Thanks for all the replies. The plot thicknes. Took car to Audi body shop to try my luck with corrosion warranty. The specialist that came to inspect pointed out that the drivers side door had been re-sprayed. Which after a bit of arguing I did see (paint has slight orange peel look to it in the right light).

I now assume the holes were drilled so that a body shop could beat out a dent from inside, then sprayed outside of door. Such a bad job that this has now caused the door to corrode.

I guess I was too excited about buying my first Audi to spot these things. I have learnt my lesson now though :(
