Am i correct in thinking that all the S1's have HBA?

If so, how do you switch it on?

No they don’t
If you have it then pushing the stalk away is all you need to do. There is an extra full beam symbol with an ‘A’ in it that comes up on the DIS screen.
From what I’ve seen it’s quite a rare option.

Mine has this, I didn’t realise it was an optional extra just assumed it was standard!

Hi guys,

I have this one mine. Believe it was an optional extra of just shy of £200. You will notice a big convex lens as you look at the top of your windscreen if you do have this.

To activate you push the left stick forward as you would to put on full beam and that activates it. It is a fantastic extra, sees car brake lights far in the distance and is certainly worth the money.

It came with the 'Comfort Pack' or as an additional option

I made mine more sensitive using VCDS. It’s a balancing act though as too sensitive and reflections from road signs dips them

Can anyone confirm if this is the hardware for high-beam assist (or is it just for the auto-dimming mirror)?

Cheers

The sensor for the dimming mirror is the square on the outer right (in the photo) of the mirror itself. This does look like the HBA camera in the mount.

Cheers both. With the lights in both Auto and manually switched to dipped-beam, I didn't get the A icon beside the blue high-beam icon on the clock.

An autoscan showed no faults - shall I remove the hardware from the gateway and re-add it?

I don't have it but I believe you have to have the high beam stalk set to on and then it activates over a certain speed - it's in the manual if you got one with the car?

The car has a manual for an A3, not an A1! I imagine the systems are very similar, but I’m on the hunt for a proper manual.

If you sign up on myAudi and add your car you can access an online owners manual but this is the bit you need:

I went the other way with this. Car came with it but turned it off through VCDS as found it too unpredictable. Much prefer controlling them manually but each to their own
