Evening all,
I've got a 2015 Allroad with the HID headlights.
This is the first car I've had with HID lights and I was expecting more. I think I've read somewhere that these cars are fitted with low power bulbs, is this the case and if it is then is it possible to upgrade them?
I like the tight beam pattern etc. But they do seem a bit underpowered.

Thanks

It's mostly likely the bulbs, they will be the original ones installed on the car almost 7 years ago and they do tend to fade over time. Go for something like the OSRAM XENARC night breaker laser they would give you more light.

I read somewhere (can't remember where) that the facelifted lights are 25 watt d5s bulbs. I'm new to xenon bulbs so have no idea if it's an easy job to swap them to something brighter.

I checked for a 2015 and 2016 allroad and they use D3S but depends what your PR code is for your code as some version of lights also use the D5S so you need to check first

I've had a good look and I have the d5s bulbs with a measly 2000 lumens.
It looks like there is a morimoto upgrade with 35w rather than 25w or some LED alternatives.
I wonder if the lower power bulbs were brought in to separate them from the led matrix lights, or maybe production costs as the d5s are a cheaper bulb.
I'll definitely do something with them to improve brightness but not sure what yet.
Looks like the pre facelift cars had d3s which were way brighter.

I would suggest talking to Trupesh at EM tuning. He is a specialist in Audi Headlight conversions and bulb upgrades.

He does my interior LED upgrades.
