Hex-Usb-can lead for Vagcom

:thumbsup:Anybody wanting to purchase a hex can usb lead for Vagcom,well they normally retail at £259 but i managed to get one today with next day delivery for £230,this is good discount considering Gendan told me they were the cheapest in the Uk.I purchased the lead from a place called http://www.mi-uk.com/ they are recommended on Ross Techs website as a distribtor.

That's not using VAGCOM - it is their own version of it called MI DIAG

It will more than likely do the same thing, but you won't get any support from RossTech. You'll have to go to MI for it.

Gendan are more than likely correct in saying they are the cheapest in the UK for VAGCOM as MI are not selling VAGCOM.

Although, from looking at the PDF brochure (http://www.mi-uk.com/products/accessories/diagnostic/mi-diagnostic.pdf) it would appear that they have rebranded VCDS as MI-DIAG since the windows all look to be the same. Perhaps they have licensed the software rather than just distributing it as is.

Mark was speaking to Nigel before about this and he said the same so i phoned them to triple check it was definatley a ross tech lead and vag com and he said 100%. Will be getting it in the morning so will let you know for definate,if it isnt then im going to play havoc with Steve at MI!!

The only thing that bothered me from our chat earlier today was the fact it had been rebranded as Marc spotted aswell, this to me is kinda worrying as I never thought vagcom licensed its intellectual property to anyone else, but I've had no need to contact Ross-tech to date so I'm sure you'll be fine, but do check when you get it as advised cause £230 delivered in a case was very low indeed, thats why I suggested Gendan in 1st place as guaranteed to be original with all support which £30 extra wouldnt have bought anywhere else.

The packge arrived this morning and was exactly what i ordered,they sent me a small plastic case which contained a genuine ross tech Hex can usb lead,a ross tech binder manual and a ross tech quick start guide,very impressed with it for this price.

Jolly good. Have you installed the MI-DIAG software from the CD yet? I'd be interested to know what version they are shipping - is it the latest (805) or are they still shipping 704 or even 603 (603 is listed on their PDF).

Have they confirmed whether or not you can download the latest versions from RossTech's web site or do you need to run their version only?

By the way... looks to be a bargain if they've thrown in the binder and plastic case. Mine arrived in a FedEX envelope which contained the lead inside a jiffy bag and a quick start guide.

From looking at RossTech's product pages it looks like the plastic case only comes with the pro version.

they shipped the 805 version but i instalalled the latest 805.1 from ross techs site,been playing with it all morning and eventually afetr a bit of head scratching seemed to of activated all what i wanted doing,there is a few error codes on there which im not sure what the problems are if u can shed any light on it?

have you retrofitted the RNS-e? The ZF ground to earth is normally the giveaway there. You also appear to have a problem with the wiring for two of your speakers.

The 205711 coding also appears to be incorrect. That's what the fourth error means.

Since you've only just got your lead, I would assume that is why the coding is incorrect.

Your problem would appear to be the third last digit (7).

It needs to be one of the following:

0xxx?xx: Telephone/telematics
1 - no telephone (supply voltage for microphone actively)
2 - Mobile phone preparation (Temic - Speisesp. Microphone inactively)
3 - Mobile phone preparation (Cullmann - Speisesp. Microphone inactively)
4 - Mobile phone preparation (Nokia - Speisesp. Microphone inactively)
5 - Telematics Europe (supply voltage microphone inactively)
6 - Telematics US (supply voltage microphone inactively)
7 - Base plate diagnostic capable with comfort control

The RNS-e is not aware that it has phone capabilities. If you have phone prep then you need to change the 7 to either 2, 3 or 4.

If you don't know which one you need then you should make the change, clear all errors and then do another scan after closing the controller in VCDS.

yes fitted the rnse the other day!! not sure what the fault with the speakers would be,i onlg got vagcom this morning so do i need to code anything/remove any wires from the rnse??

Yeah, you'll need to change that 7 anyway. everything else should be ok, unless maybe the unit you bought was a LHD one which means the nav lady will be on the passenger side. You can recode this by changing adaptation channel 136 to 13. It will be 5 if LHD.

not sure about the speaker errors - do you have BOSE?

Speakers open circuit suggests short somewhere, but they worked fine when we tested as did all quarters independently

Antenna put down to the diversity antenna systems from symph 2+ to rns
