Ive lowered my a3 1999 by 50mm and now putting my 18" wheels on but dont know what tyres to put on as ive been told 225/40/18 will rub. I would like a thinner profile but not sure what this size would be. any suggestions please?
Thanks Dave

That tire size is correct for 18's on these cars. will have a 90mm side wall.
Whether it will rub wiyh 50mm drop is abother question. But A LOT of.people run that size. It's what should be on it.

whats the standard wheel/tire size?

IF you choose the 35 profile the circumference may be smaller than the originals which will make the speedo out by so much %

You could go 215,35,18!,just remember smaller width (less grip)!

I've got to tell you- ANYTHING less than 40 profile on 18"s is going to be reaaly hard...

I'm wincing and weaving around bumps in the road as it is- and I've only got the standard "sports" suspension on the TDI Q.

Hi,

I can help with the tyre sizes for your vehicle. However it depends on the year / engine size (this changes factors such as the load index)...

Rather than worry about the tyre size wouldn't you be better off getting the tyre width/offset/ride height balance right for the correct tyres for the wheels?
