Help.....Red brake light comes on intermittantly

Hi All

I have a little problem with my car and just wondered if anyone can shed any light.

Every now and then when I start the car the red brake light will come on a flash couple of times and then go off.
When it does this it seems like the car struggles to start more than when it doesn't come on when started.

It will also flash occasionally when I am driving along.

I'm not sure whether this is linked but there seems to be a dip in power now and then when I am driving along.

Does anyone have any idea in what this could be?

It can also be battery, brake fluid sensor, brake fluid level - as it was on mine.

Have you checked your brake fluid level

If you have a bulb out on the tail light this can cause the issue but in most cases its the brake switch which is around £20-£25 from Audi and about a 20min DIY fix, this issue is quite common on the B6 cars.

Thanks guys for your help, I will have a good check tomorrow and order a brake light switch.

I had this issue too,I put a meter across the battery and realised it was on its way out so changed the battery and i've not had the problem since.
