help needed!!!Product recommendations

Hey alright everyone! Im after a bit of help with products for my 2001 silver S3 i wash it once a week and maintain it to the highest standard but i never knew there were so many products avaiable! I noramlly use autoglym products to wash it and polish it, but it wasnt until i read the useful guides on this site that i realised there are much better and probably less harmful products for my car!
As i said ive read through the guides and have found them really useful but im still confused about what products to use:readit::think:
Im going to a show at santa pod on 4th august and want my car looking as good as possible for that and for the future!

The products i am after are :-
  • Polish ( For use by hand as i dont have a machine)
  • Wheel cleaning products?
Have also heard about sealents and clays? I have know idea about theses so if someone could point me in the right direction! that would be great.

Sorry about all the questions and being a pain but my car is my pride and joy and i like it too look good.

1 final question does anyone recommend these?

Never use squeegees or chamois.

Dry it off with microfibre towels.
 
As above, go with the werkstatt acrylic kit and you wont be disapointed, the more layers you give the car the wetter it looks - it offers very good durability too!

Slick and Suds is a great shampoo, i'd also recommend Meguiars Shampoo plus.

To get the most out of your car car's looks, especially on silver then you should clay it, something like Meguiars Quick clay should be fine for yourself.

Lastly, as said above, dont use water blades/chamois etc as they will inflict marring and scratches - use a waffle weave drying towel using the pat dry method,

Just started to notice swirl marks on my roof they arent bad but i can notice them, will these products help get rid of them or do i have to pay someone to come and sort it out?

Ive just moved to portsmouth are there any (Good) detailers round this area?

Putting waxes and polish etc will mask the swirls but won't get rid of them. To do that requires something abrasive (and a deep breath).
 
The Jeffs kit won't hide swirls, so better to hold off for a while longer until they worsen, then either bite the bullet and get a polisher, or else get a pro detailer in to de-swirl the paint for you. I know of several good hobbiest detailers in your area, Neil_S is a member on here and based not far from you, and his work is spot on - would be worth buying him a pint or two if you need some on the ground advice/help. Other than that, the above list should serve you very well indeed. :)
 
Thanks for the replys and the info, How can i get hold of neil_S? I wont be getting a polisher as i will most probably take the paint of my car lol

Got the products and i spent 4 hours washing the car on sat it was so clean and shiny but as i was in a rush to meet my mates at the pub forgot to take pictures. S**T. As it rained that night i didnt want to take pictures the next day as i didnt feel it looked the same! LOL

I also used the clay which was really easy to use and i was suprised by how much crap it took of the car just after i cleaned it!
How often are you meant to use the clay?

Will be cleaning the car again this weekend so will post some pics!

Looks great! Use the clay 1-2 times a year whenever you want to strip everything off (protection and contaminants) and start over again from scratch. :)

With the Trigger, wiping on and wiping off is enough, so a whisper thin coat is all you need to see/acheive when applying it - less is more! All pads, towels and mitts should be washed in a washing machine at a low temperature using a gentle non-biological liquid detergent (avoid soap powders and detergents containing bleach or fabric softeners), before allowing everything to dry out naturally. I don't think there's anything you need to add to your routine, just focus on getting as many coats of Trigger on the car as possible. :)
 
That's pretty wet looking for sure... shame the camera focus/sharpness is letting the finish down a bit; I'm sure it looks more awesome in the flesh. :icon_thumright:
