help needed - a3 2005 1.9tdi

i was wondering if someone could help me shed some light on my audi a3 2005 1.9tdi.. i was driving today and came off a roundabout and accelerated then heard a loud whistle and my car cut out and wouldn't start again... after getting recovered i had a mess with it and removed the oil cap and it started with it removed although did puff white smoke from oil opening. but it wont start with oil cap on... really strange one but desperate to get this fixed. so any help would be great. thanks in advance.

Could be pcv related .... Couldn't be sure

Pcv's will whistle if they go wrong sometimes .... And you mentioned the oil cap removed the car would start?

yes my car wont start now it just turning over. but if i rempve my oil cap it will start. but a quite a bit of white smoke coming from the oil hole.

Has it just been topped up with oil? Does it crank really slowly or even not at all with the cap on?
