Hi Guys,

Bought a cat back Milltek secondhand, all the items look to be there (small crossover, centre pipe MSAU289REP and back box MSAU425). However, after removing the stock exhaust and offering the Milltek up for fitment I have a few issues.

1. The Milltek is too long when all three items are put together
2. The brackets for the centre section are 'pulling' the rubber hangers towards each other (as if the brackets are not far enough apart), see photo below

3. Unsure how to connect the centre section to the stock system (see photo below, but ignore the alignment it was just propped up)

So in order to fit the exhaust, I need to use the stock exhaust clamp and the Milltek supplied crossover (pictured below, stock clamp on left, Milltek crossover on right). Is this correct?

Together as follows:

The top of the crossover is smaller and matches the size of the stock system which means I can use the stock clamp.

So everything fits together. But doing this makes the system too long and the center section brackets do not fit the rubber hangers at all by about 3". The only way I can get it to fit is by cutting down the crossover and making it shorter.

I cannot understand that Milltek make a system that has to be modified by the end user. So before contacting Milltek, I thought I would ask on the forum. Any help?

Thanks in advance!

Has the exhaust come from a sportsback and are you trying to fit it onto a 3 door?

I thought the milltek system joined to the flexi joint ?
Agree with above the sportback and 3 door are 2 different systems.
Best phone Milltek and speak to someone and email ur pics bud :)

Thanks guys and no, it was advertised as removed from a 3 door?

Thanks Robbie - read that already and it's just a general guide. Like you say I will need to call Milltek tomorrow.

Had a look about on the internet but could only find a fitting guide from turbo back on an auz Audi forum so not much use.

Thanks for the help Robbie - yes I would need a fitting guide for the cat back only.

That's the correct part numbers for the 3-door, the sportback uses the same link pipe but the rear box part number is MSAU290. It looks like it just needs a bit of adjustment.

My advice is to take it to an authorised Milltek fitting centre as Milltek will not entertain end users fitting their own exhausts. It will be cheaper in the long run. No point in having a quality exhaust and it knocking against the rear subframe and looks naff because it's not aligned correctly.

Thanks nluk100 - although the system is very very simple and does not require specialist fitting, I think this is just a stumbling block! Haha

You should only be using the milltek joiner to connect the milltek to your standard system. The standard front part of the system is a smaller bore to the milltek which is why you have the reducer joint.

OK - so finally got to the bottom of the problems...

Turns out the part numbers match an A3 2.0T FSI Quattro and are NOT for an S3. Hence why it may be longer and unable to fit it to my car!

Just change the rear box - i bought a system a while back as it was advertised as 2.0 TFSi and just sold the back box on. The rest of the system should be fine.
