HELP LOST THE KEYS

My mates lost the keys to his vw passat 2006/7 model

well he only had 1 key.

vw cut him a key and said cannot code as they think the cars had its original module replaced previously, so they said they can supply new etc at a cost of 1600 quid.

i dont know whats what with this car neither does my mate...........what i wanted know is

if he gets another ecu and clock from a donor vehicle and swops them will the car start?
or is there a module he needs to replace to..........i think this could be a cheaper option as these parts can be sourced off e-bay for around 200 quid.

Clock is not part of immobiliser on this car.

If the car is open pm me I can help if you post me a security part and tell you how to get it off. It's very easy. Will work even if it's been replaced.

If local I'll do complete job. I'm in hull but travel most days within reason.

If you post me the part I need and a second hand or new key it is just £50 to get you up and running.
