Hoping someone might be able to help me out on this my car has literally just broken down and I'm stuck in a car park in Leeds. I got into the car I turned on the ignition getting into the car was stuck in first gear would not change up on driving, also the information display around the gear selection has been flashing on off and the engine management light has come on. I tried putting it in reverse and that doesn't work either is there a way you can reset the DSG or is this a bigger software problem?

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but this might actually be a hardware problem.

sounds like the PRNDS flashing lights. restarting the engine should let you find a gear for now but you'll want to start reading up on the problem.

I have the same problem it's the DSG going in my case, a Sensor inside it has failed. can also be caused by clutch wear apparently.

Thanks guys.. I've been looking. I have two fault codes;

P1824 - modulation pressure solenoid valve 3, open circuit /valve short.

P1746 - solenoid valve power supply power defective.

I'm going to get it booked in ASAP and get the gear oil changed and at the same time of the Earth Lines to the gearbox etc checked out.

When the PRNDS flashes it usually indicates a problem with the mechatronics unit...I really really hope it can be repaired, they ain't cheap!

Look up Slaters in Nottingham...they seem to have a good rep as DSG specialists but I've never used them myself...If you can live without your car for around 2 months, you might like to purchase a warranty.

Cheers for that, I'll have a look. No I need my car unfortunately, why 2 months? Think it might be too late for warrenty lol... I do have breakdown cover with AA, should cover me for up to £500... "Should" :/
