Hi All,

I am looking at getting an RS4 in the next few days. I am completely new to this. Please could you advice me on what to look out for. I have spent over two days researching.

Also, I am after the early 2006 model with the lower tax band - is there much difference with the 2006 and 2007 models, like facelift (if they were face-lifted)?

I have a budget of 16 - 18.5k. Is a 90,000 mile car all right?

What are the optional extras on these cars.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Many thanks.

Hi the first thing is full service history and try and get one thats just been serviced, DRC issues can be expensive so look for one thats on coilovers . Carbon build up can be 500 pound repair, disks and pads can be 1k all round and tyres need to be quite new because they only last about 10k so all of these need to be good before you buy. Also look for one thats been owned by someone who has had it a few years and all of the above should be in good order. When you have purchased car get it to a specialist like MRC or Unit 20 and get it health checked and on a dyno to see how its running and listen to that V8 roar at you. Not 100% sure on all options other than i have bucket seats , sunroof and front and back parking sensors, at the end of the day its a great sounding car that goes like **** off a shovel and every bloke on the street will be looking at you.
Good luck with your purchase and enjoy.
I hope this helps.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. If all goes well, I should have one by the end of the week. I am quite excited about it. Any mileage advise? I am looking at an 06 @90,000 for just under 17k. I also intend to get a 12 month warranty with the purchase.

Warranty is always a good thing, show us pics when you get it and enjoy.

Coil-overs are not the be all and end all, a good DRC that been looked after and works well does just that, works very well and enhances the RS4.

A good example with FSH, warranty and totally original is a good choice, modified ones should be avoided unless you know the owner and history in detail.

DRC is great when working but expensive to fix if not.

Other issues are Exhaust valves in the rear boxes tend to seize up (press sports button and see if it opens while at idle) Sport seat have issues with the bolster pump seals.

Oil cooler lines corrode and take out the oil cooler itself and also the Aux rads are another week point, other than that these cars are solid quick cars and handle well.

Hey guys, many thanks for all your inputs. I am now a proud owner of a 2006 Audi RS4 (B7). It has done 90,000miles with full service history. Also included is 12 months warranty. Few scratch and scuffs here and there, some condensation on the passenger headlight and driver rear.

I would like to take it to Audi specialists to have a good look at it but I live in Scotland and the recommended ones like MRC, DMS, Unit20 are all miles away from me. Are there any good places in Scotland to take it to? This is my first German marque car so not knowledgeable about them.

Oh and Pictures below! (so easy to post pictures on this forum - love it ^_^)
