Heated wing mirror fault - one side

Hi all,
My passenger side mirror has stopped heating up. Just that one, not the driver side. Thought I'd have a look at it, seeing as Audi dealer wants £120 to investigate.

This thread seems pretty good on int. Is there a report somewhere in the software in-car that might tell me what the issue is? After reading up this seems to be either a wiring issue or a glass issue.

B9 heated wing mirror not heating

So with the first cold weather of the year I’ve realised that my wing mirrors aren’t demising / de icing. Now I’ve read a few things about corrosion on contacts and some more about degraded heating elements! I’d like to check those so does anyone have a how to or guide to b9 wing glass removal...

More than likely the mirror heater element has degraded.
Second would be the contacts to the mirror heater have corroded.

I changed both driver and passenger sides at around 3 years old. The mirror and heater circuits seemed pretty cheap/flimsy compared to Audis of old.


If you have a multimeter you can check the resistance across the mirror heater to determine if it’s degraded.

If it’s normal you can check the voltage to the mirror heater supply.

Hope you don't have the auto dimming mirrors. I was quoted over £300 for a glass
