Had my car serviced today. Had the interim £99 service as my S3 is on fixed servicing.

On the invoice it said Shell Helix longlife, so I asked about this and was told Audi have changed from Castrol to Shell but the viscosity, grade etc are the same. They told me I was fine to top up with the Castrol oil I have in the car.

Can anyone verify if Audi have changed to Shell oils, or is it just my dealer?

Some dealers use Shell and some use Castrol. They both are the same grade and conform to the same vw standard.

Whilst I appreciate it might be nice to know about any change can I ask a further question please ?

If the grade is the same, does it matter what make it is ?

Oops - sorry - typing my question before the previous post came up !!!!!!!

My dealer was selling Mobil oil for a bit so they obviously use what they have at the time!!
