hand brake tight to pull on

so the A4 has sat for months not being used. so as always ive left it sitting with the hand brake off but while I was moving the car before I started work on it I noticed the hand brake is majorly tight to pull on. the rear brakes are not sticking even after pulling the hand brake on and then off again so Im thinking cables?

Siezed cable, or more likely the handbrake mechanism at the caliper.

I don't think its the calipers as they were rebuilt a couple of years ago but then you never know.
once ive got the front end back together ill get the rear end up and ill remove the cables from the calipers and see how the handbrake lever feels after that.
