Hi all,

It’s been a long time since I’ve posted on here but once again I’m here for some help regarding my haldex issues.

Had the car in the morning at a local specialist to diagnose why the traction light was flickering under acceleration and a juddering from the rear wheels, I was told the diff and haldex we’re all fine and to go test the tweaked traction settings. They also mentioned about the rear tyres having 3mm, so I went and got the rear tyres replaced to eliminate that straight away, stopped the car and decided to try launch it to make sure the AWD was working as before.

This is where the car was still 2WD and a massive bang from the back of the car, followed by a constant knocking sound, took it back to the garage for them to then tell me the propshaft has gone, as well as the coupling to the haldex, and the rubber to the doughnut was out/has play (correct me if that’s the wrong terminology).

Now received a nice bill to replace said parts but was wondering would a damaged or on the way out propshaft cause issues with the AWD?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards,

Renox

Call my cynical, but my suspicious nature makes me wonder if something was loosened on purpose & you went & gave it some power which inturn caused the damage knowing you'd be back to them for a huge repair bill.

3mm on dry roads shouldn't cause flickering traction often unless you're driving like a nut job.

Thanks for the quick response, I have the same feeling to be honest however now would I challenge that? They’ll surely just said it was fine when it left? They gave it the all clear this morning now it’s broke?

also this was never an issue until I set off from a light on day with a bit of power then all of a sudden a slight bang with the rear wheels juddering.

You can't, use another garage, it's remotely a coincidence, but not allot you can do now, sounds like a catastrophic failure, no pics?

Hi,

After all this time we have figured out what the issue was. THE BEVEL/TRANSFER BOX has S**T itself.
