You do know this guy earns money by performing this, right? And this kinda gives it away "
ALSO IT DOES NOT WORK CORRECTLY WITH “OBD11” OR CHINA COPY VCDS!". Not a lot of people have a genuine VCDS cable and buying one for just making the oil change would be more expensive than just paying this bloke to do it.
Of course people can do what they want, but let me put it this way: if the pump is smart enough to figure out that the filter is blocked/partly blocked, why wouldn't it be smart enough to figure out when the filter isn't blocked anymore?
He actually explains this below:
"The control unit learns how much power is required to run the pump until the pressure hits a certain threshold, it does this by monitoring how much current is consumed by the pump, when the pump is blocked, or faulty, the control unit learns/adapts some very low values which means when the Haldex controller tried to engage the pump, it does not supply enough power to make it engage. By carrying out the learn function when fitting a new pump, it will learn the correct power values and thus engage the system correctly."
So the unit should learn that it doesn't need that much current anymore to hit this certain threshold after cleaning the filter. I talked to two of my friends which are mechanics at Audi and YES the adaption should be performed when changing the pump since not all pumps behave the same but Elsawin doesn't say anything about making the adaption when just changing the oil.
I just post this so people don't spend money on something that might actually not be necessary. I wouldn't even bother to buy the repair kit because it's only a matter of oiling the o-rings and not overtighten the screws.
I’m just trying to say that some stuff should not be over complicated or made into a business like changing the oil on a haldex unit.
Just my 5 cent, take it or leave it
