Would a standard replacement clutch fix it?
I need a new clutch before remap.

@ A3 Oly - sounds good buddy, Shame about the new beast's clutch though, but does just a remap finish the clutch? How does the remap feel? how much boost is it on now? to where is the limiter moved now? Cheers keep well

Yes it would. But id say bin the lot, go for a single mass conversion, the old dual mass jobbies are pantaloons.

I'm sure whoever Ben is he will be very grateful for the good review, although unless you specify which is the many Bens in the world it was that mapped your car I highly doubt his business will benefit in any way what so ever :p

    Still, great news indeed.

Now you need an ABF flywheel and a VR6 clutch. Cheaper than standard replacement (if you're changing the DMF), lighter pedal feel, and improved performance. Win win win.

I wish i knew that a few months back :sorry:
Standard clutch and flywheel from audi set me back about £300.

Ouch. All the parts brand new for the ABF/VR conversion cost £280, and fitting is pretty straight forward too! Ligther than standard, and rated to just over 300lbft. it's a no brainer. Can be done for under £150 if you get a second hand flywheel too!

see this confuses me somewhat, as the S2 clutch i have in my A4 is MUCH heaver than standard, and is also 240mm rather than 228, yet is only apparently good for ~400-450nm. Similarly the 240mm S4/RS4 clutch is also a LOT heavier than a standard 228mm A4 1.8T clutch. To the point that after driving my car or my brothers S4, and then getting into the missus avant with its stock clutch, typically results in me trying to punch the pedal thru the carpet.

I fail to understand how a clutch with a lighter pedal feel (which implies LESS clamping force) can hold more power than stock, especially when its no larger...

Depends on the plate I guess... my current setup of a std cover and DMF but 4 puck paddle will have a better effective clamping force due to some law of physics (distribution of force or something) I haven't got my head around (and being cerametallic helps make it grippier)

yeh puck clutches grip better because the same clamping force is applied to much smaller areas, but VR clutch and my S2 one are both full face organic disks.
