Another year at GTI International at a new ground.

After reading on facebook that people was not happy with the new location, I was wondering what everyone's thoughts was on it?

For me, I like its. Granted it was very dry and dusty but was that down to the 25 degrees heat we had over the weekend?
The portable toilets was **** basically. There was not enough for the amount of people camping, they was not cleaned regularly and way too hot but based on last years toilets at Bruntingthorpe anything would be a step down. They was better than my toilet.

I prefered the drag strip at this one, better seat to see what's going on but I understand it was harder for the lads to get traction on this track?

Camping on stand was better than I thought. If its the same plan next year we could possible plan the layout a bit better.

The only issue i ever have with our stands is... you either know people or you dont... i walked over a couple of times to the people on the stand but nobody seamed to look up... i am a little shy granted but... ,
    Oh well,
I think the sun will always romance any venue. To be fair it all seemed "ok" but as a "show" there seemed to be little other than the drag strip to look at. The club stands all looked like camp sites realy.
With us taking young kids obviously the toilet issue wasnt great but the main block was ok.

It can be hard to join a group and join the convo.
I've tried a couple of times on different clubs and stands with people I know.

If you know the stand and a couple of people off it, it might sometimes just be better to windmill in with your hand out stretched and just say hello.

Morning all, spoke to few of the regular attendees, and many agreed the layout wasn't the greatest. In the old venue, when you was queuing along for the strip, there was traders eitherside, and you could banter with mates in the queue, but it wasn't possible here with the grandstand seating arrangement, as it's a genuine 1/4 miles venue, not a make shift one like the Bruntingthorpe.

Regarding the clubstand, it's difficult to keep everyone happy. Unfortunately, there's noway I can know everyone, and it's the same for everyone, you just have to come over and say 'Hi' and make yourself known. We're all a friendly bunch!

The strip itself felt like a bit of a trek from the stand also, so it was annoying to walk between the strip and the stand, the heat didn't help. And I felt the ground/road that we travel accross was a bit too uneven and dusty. I had no issues with my car personally, but the amount of scrapage from a lot of other cars may have put them off for next year?

In general though, with it being a new venue, it wasn't bad, it could have been better, but I'm not disappointed.

The only thing I was disappointed with was the weather! I was so so hot and it spoiled my day so I got there at ten and left at 1!

I thought the venue was OK. The organisation of the club stands could have been better (agree it was basically like a campsite and quite separate from the main "centre" of the show) and the drop form the access road to the grass areas was a problem for the lowest of cars, but apart from that I thought it was fine. Had the weather been bad I think it could have been a different matter altogether though - there's very little hard standing/tarmac access to the grass areas, so if it was wet it could be a problem. The main toilet/shower facilities were OK - I didn't dare venture into the 2 solitary temporary bogs, so can't comment on that!
