Groaning!

When making slow turns near full lock either left or right I can hear a definite groan from the car. Once up to speed it's completely fine. This has me puzzled and I'm wondering if anyone has anything similar on theirs? Is this relatively normal behaviour or the sound of impending transmission trouble?

pretty sure i have this, more so in reverse? never thought much of it tbh

It's most evident in first and reverse. Definitely sounds more from the front and is quite loud, it hasn't always done this so I'm sure it's not normal

Mine did this... faulty steering rack. Get Audi to check it over mate.

These cars are starting to make my Land Rover look reliable. Due a service in two weeks so I'll get them to check it out

Mine isn't clunking it's more of a dull whine only near full lock. It has only become apparent after fitting a new transfer case though so it must be something related to that?
