thats insane, its a battery. Audi are gonna dry hump me for a battery. Surely a Bosch S5 can be fitted ????

Had mine on charge for 18 hrs and it still didn`t go green on the charger so looks like it could be getting poorly.

Only just realised that the Kufatec Sound Booster Pro does this on startup when the car is in ‘dynamic’ mode. I’ve been using this at the petrol station and school car park whilst picking jnr up! Lol. :D

Yes way, you need to tell the car what battery you are putting in, it’s not like an 8L you just swop batteries, fire up and off you go! Lol

I was told the same thing with my old A6 C6, but I changed the battery a couple of times & never needed to do this. A half decent run after changing it & it was fine. Could be different on the C7 I suppose, but I’m dubious. Unless of course you’ve actually experienced issues changing the battery yourself, but if not I wouldn’t believe it.

Looking at what you info you put in it’s just the serial number and manufacture. So long as battery is like for like I can’t see it being important tbh.

I believe if you stick exactly the same battery in as before, then there isn’t an issue? It’s to do with the whole stop start and energy recover systems I think?

Afternoon all, it’s been a while since I’ve posted in this thread!

Unfortunately, it’s time for me to move on from BiTdi ownership... I had planned on keeping her for a while when I purchased it back in 2015, but I hadn’t anticipated that Birmingham would become a ULEZ zone, which means I can’t drive into central in my A6 anymore! :( so it has to make way for something smaller with lower emissions.

Need to sort out a few niggly issues before I put it up for sale.

I thought the BiTdi is a EU6, maybe that’s just the FL?

Mine is a 2012 non adblue model unfortunately. I have barely used it during the whole lockdown and now ULEZ has arrived, it’s just no longer required.

So a further update on my A6.

During this pandemic, without being able to travel any distance due to restrictions, my A6 developed an intermittent starting fault whilst being parked up for long periods. It would usually fire up first time when the engine is stone cold, but struggle to start again once fully upto operating temperature and switched off for 5 minutes. I decided to drop the car off to my nearest VAG specialist for diagnostics, and they spent 5 odd hours on it, could only replicate the fault twice, and I left with a 300 quid bill without a fix, just a recommendation that a new ECU is looking likely the solution, that was £1050+vat for just the ECU alone, plus programming it in on top, with no guarantee it will fix it, so you can imagine the thought of facing a £2k+ bill, Impaid the £300 and took the car home.

Doing some research and having conversations with my close car friends, Jarrod(aka Jardo @16Klappe the S3 Slayer) of North East Tuning had reach out to me and said he will fix my car if take the car upto him in Newcastle 200 miles away with the information I have given him. A road trip was planned...

After a bit of poking about, he wasn’t convinced it was the ECU at fault, and just 60 minutes later, despite not being a diagnostic specialist, he figured it was this poxy relay at fault. Absolute legend, saving me a ton of money by replacing this £22 part! The car is still up there awaiting me to pick up when I’m free, he even mapped the gearbox for me to remove the torque limiters in the first 3 gears of the ZF box, so should be quicker than before.

So if anyone requires a remap on their A6, I couldn’t recommend Jardo enough, just remember to tell him I sent you!

Full write up of his Facebook page below if you have Facebook.
