Hi everyone,

Had my new car literally 2 months and Ive got a flat already! Whilst I accept flats are part and parcel of motoring I worried for a number of reasons...

Firstly, my new A3 came with AO fitment Bridgestone Turanzas which you cant seem to buy online.

Secondly, having had an alloy damaged by a fitter before im petrified that its going to happen again.

Any advice?

Where is the nail and have you run on the tyre whilst flat?

Roughly toward the center and the tyre has got a slow puncture so it hasn't gone completely flat yet. The TPMS warned me that there was pressure loss.

Yes it can be repaired as above.

Audi don't do repairs, if I can recall but just do your research for a good tyre place. ATS, Kwik Fit? Somewhere you know you will have good recourses if anything did happen. Just watch and make sure they are careful, express your concern.

Funnily enough, sat in Audi now having 4 tyres fitted.

Go to a decent independent tyre specialist in your town. Expect to pay £10 - £15 for a repair.

I had a TPMS alert me to mine a couple of months back, the screw was in the middle so it was repaired. I just said to the guy doing it "Listen mate I'm not being funny and I'm sure you will be, but can you be careful with the alloy please as they are diamond cut and expensive to repair". He was great about it and even said "Yeah I don't blame you for asking, they are nice alloys". When he was finished he even asked me to check the alloy before I paid.

It cost me £20 as I needed it done fast, but if you have a Costco close with a tyre bay they do it for £10!!! And apparently if you buy tyres from them and ever get a puncture they repair it for free.

This was mine:

My story:

Been driving for over 25 years - have owned many Hondas and Mazdas - never had a flat tire ever.

Within 4 months of buying my S3, my first Audi: flat tire.

Had to be replaced ... and they are not cheap or stocked by dealerships in my area.

Thanks for replies, went to a local small tyre place that me dads been using for years.

They repaired the tyre and did so without damaging my alloy for £18. They were fine with me saying about being picky with my alloys.

All in all - can't recommend them enough, so if you need work doing and you're in Warrington area check out TST Culcheth Tyres.

Interestingly as a Bridgestone supplier, they were unable to get hold of the FL A3 Hatch OEM Bridgestone Turanza 005 and said this was a very common problem with new audis.

Bridgestone tyres are fine in warm dry conditions. Other tyres perform much better in cold and/or wet conditions.

Having said that: Bridgestone have a new Evo tyre that appears to be testing better in all conditions.

Talk about putting a jinx on things! Thought about this thread last Friday....

Two days after replying to this thread we went away for a week, both the boot and back seats were fully loaded! 20 minutes into the journey I saw something in the middle of the road which I didn't fancy hitting! (vid below) luckily I'd passed the wagon and tried to swerve around it, but clipped some of it :( Two miles down the road 'bing bing bing' low tyre pressure front drivers side :crying: So I stop and pump it up enough to get us off the dual carriageway and somewhere safe. Pumped it up again and it was going down as fast as the compressor was pumping it up :( So I called Audi assist to send someone out to put the spare on as there was no way I was using a flimsy jack with a full car and full tank of fuel! I was soaking wet and fed up! To be fair from calling them to them getting to me and changing it was 30 mins :) When he took it off I was expecting to see a big slash in the tyre, luckily it was a puncture which could be repaired.

So the Audi guy found the closest repair place "Kwik Fit", not having much choice unless I wanted to drive the rest of the holiday on a spare I went there. As I pulled up the boss came out, I told him what was wrong and he told a young lad who looked about 17 to repair it!!! I was very nice about it, but asked for him to be careful as they are expensive alloys...As he was putting it back on I got talking to him...he was the apprentice and had been there 6 weeks  one of the other guys was watching him and checked everything he did :) I checked the alloy before leaving and there was nothing on the face, but later when I had another look I noticed a couple of small marks on the top of the alloy where they go in to take the tyre off.

But like @Civuck, nothing for years and then 2 with this car this year!!!

I believe my tire puncture occurred when forced to drive through an accident zone - debris everywhere that I did my best to avoid, but apparently still hit something.

And my sob story doesn't stop there. When Audi dispatched a truck to assist with the spare tire install, when removing the lugs, his tool flew off and swiped the skirt of the car leaving a small but still noticeable mark. Should have trusted myself to do that work - lesson learned.

If it's any consolation, I got a screw in one of my tires 3 days after they were put on the car for the first time (took delivery with winter tire/wheels installed) Thankfully they were able to repair it though.
