Hey Guys,

Been lurking on here for a while now and 'taking it all in'. I bought my A4 2.0 Black Edition in 2001 and love it to bits... like most of you here. however this weekend someone decided to 'rearrange my rear passenger side door in a car park:

and to add insult to injury... no note with details were left and no CCTV to catch the culprit!! so now I am looking for a good place to get this fixed... gonna have to come out of my pocket I guess ...

So can anyone recommend a decent Body Shop in the Farnborough/Reading/Maidenhead/Guildford/etc. area... and Yes... geographically challenged... I meant South-West...

Thanks for the help
Jakes

Welcome to the forum, south west I think you mean bud :p

Sorry to hear about the damage. Some people :(

I can thoroughly recommend Headley Bodyshop in Newbury. My car's in there right now, and I don't trust my cars with any old bodyshop!

hey guys...

so not having had any body work done on a car and the first quote in does this sound reasonable...

£715 - involves removal of door, fixing of the dents and masking/respraying

still waiting for other quotes so have nothing to compare it against

That sounds expensive to me.

Got my S4 back from Headley last night and their work is immaculate - the colour match and attention to detail is superb. Give them a call!

£715 ?!? I hope they gave you lubricant before they smashed you that quote.. wow!
Curious how much this cost you in the end, not too far from you in Winchester and closest very good PDR guy I know is maidenhead/outer london.

Haha they didn't, I'm actually off to Headly this PM for a quote from them.

Who is the guy in maidenhead you know I used to live there and it's like 40mins away from me.

I'll update as soon as I have the costs from Headley.

just got back from Newbury, pretty good set-up Frazer wasn't there but one of the other guys helped me and said they will pass it on to Frazer, they will e-mail me the quote. I took the opportunity to go to a place just across the road Berkshire Bodyshop but they look like a 'back-yard' outfit, the guy that came and looked at my car didn't fill me with hope to be honest... they do have a pretty sad looking R8 sitting outside which had a run-in with something hard (looked like it's been there for a while)

Jake2514, have you got this sorted? I had an identical dent and had it pdr repaired. I'll try and post a defore and after pictures.

Sorry pictureshows not loading but have a look at dentremovalcoventry.co.uk there's before and after pictures. This guy's probably a bit of a trek but there may be pdr specialists nearer you.
He's done an absolutely fantastic job and even someone with beady eyes like mine can't see any remaining damage. Took him about and hour and a half and I'm gobsmacked.

@Jakes2514 there's also BMRF in Newbury. He does more Smart repair but I think is now taking on larger jobs as he now has a unit with paint oven etc. Website is out of date probably coz the guy who runs it (David Alder) is very busy. He works more on word of mouth now.

If you look at the Detailing World link I posted above someone had used Berkshire Bodyshop and seemed happy.

Other place I know of locally is Little Knocks in Wokingham. Never used them but they seem to have a good reputation.

Hey guys and gals

So a update, tried to see if the scratches will polish out... Nope it's actually scraped off the lacquer so a huge dull scape across the door which is far to noticeable :(

However got the estimate from Headley, £540, this is removal of door, dent removal, painting and blending of adjacent panels as required and painting of front bumper where I scraped it on a curb...

She's booked in for Monday next week and I'll update with pictures once completed.

Thanks for all the recommendations and links you guys supplied

Sorry to hear about this Jakes.

Mine had this happen in exactly the same place, with a thick black line passing from the back bumper through the wheel to ending near the front door!:mad new:.

Luckily I managed to remove the black mark with Autoglym tar remover, the denting was minimal and through a combination of touchup paint/lacquer and G3 and G10 cutting compounds I can't tell it's there.

I thought about cutting compounds but as the lacquer was so badly damaged I think I'm just gonna bite the bullet and get it properly fixed, guess my quad exhaust will just have to wait... :3sadwalk:

IT IS FIXED!!!! Good work from Headly BodyShop, they guys were really professional and they also resprayed my front bumper which had some blemished due to stupid high curbstones!!

I had a dent similar to that on my previous Audi and had a paintless dent removal job done on it and it came out perfect,
the panel[rear quarter] was just dented but not scratched.

Wrighty, yea I was hoping to do the same but unfortunately the guy scraped of a large area's lacquer which wouldn't polish out, some areas were scratched just shy of down to the primer and was just to noticeable, you can't really see it that well in my initial pictures, apart from the two deeper scratches closer to the fold in the door on the close-up.
