Been doing some reading, dangerous I know, and the consensus is the AEB's stock throttle body is a tad small. It seems from some US sites that it's feasible to use the 2.8 Golf VR6's as an upgrade.

    Has anybody done it?

    Re: AEB-VR6 Throttle body swap
i noticed a big difference in throttle response.

i am only on a k04 so no real power gains.

but off idle throttle and part throttle driving are much easier now.

and i havent found any caps big enough for a clamp to fit on.

i dont think theres any point changing when using standard frame turbochargers.

Maybe if you were up over 400+hp.

Rs4 throttle can be a good mod for the 1.8t when flowing muchos muchos air. Can make 15-20 bhp difference when floating around the 350-400 bhp mark. Also the torque comes up as well. Is there an early s4 tb at 55mm then one at 60mm for the 1.8t and s4 then 65mm for a later b5 s4 and then is the rs4 b5 80mm. There is a tb 5mm up from the rs4 b5 off of a Chevrolet or something but on the 1.8t at least it idles very lumpy.

Most TB's seem to be DBW,mine being an AEB is a cable throttle. Sadly rules out a lot of options as I really didn't.t fancy the swap to DBW although did consider it briefly. Went down the AGU Golf ECU route.

Basically the same as the original ECU but it can be flashed rather than requiring a physical chip. It's not closed loop.

I was looking at swapping to a later set up but decided against it
