My glovebox light isn't working (with side lights on or off). Thought I'd change the bulb but it's fine. I put a multimeter across the bulb terminals and there's no current. I checked the fuses & all seems well, so wondered whether its the switch?

However, I can't readily locate the switch and wondered whether it is in one of the hinges?
Is it's failure a known problem or does anyone have any suggestions as to why the light might not be working?

Thanks

With the passenger door open, remove the access panel at the side of the dashboard - normally hidden when the door is shut - simply pull off. You will see the damper unit which also comprises the glovebox light switch. This damper/switch unit is replaceable if broken - Audi Part No. 8E2 880 324 (around £14+VAT)

as with the above you may notice the pin holding the damper to the glovebox is missing as they are prone to breaking.

I found mine and put it back in only for it to fall out a few weeks later.

A new pin is about 37p from audi part number 8e0 880 802
