Get build spec from VIN?

Hi all,
Is there a way of being able to check what the factory fitted options were on a car somewhere online?
I've two cars in mind, one I have the VIN number for, but the company i'm buying from say it hasn't got any factory fitted packs. I know there's loads of options available so I wanted to see for myself if that was actually the case.
