Does the 8p 1.6 box fit on the 2.0 fsi? Or does any one know where I could get a custom ratio straight cut geared box? Thanks

I have found a company willing to build the gear box if I can find out more information and supply parts I'm looking to have quick acceleration and a low top speed, has any one ever done this or know where I could get more information on this, any help would be much appreciated thanks.

Many many years ago I put a 1.6GSi onto a standard 1.2 gearbox, used to wheelspin in 4th gear & didn't need 1st or 2nd!

However there will be lots of pressure/torque/power going through something that is not quite designed to do so & quite often won't last long

Also consider your engine, although it'll be working easier, it'll also be working faster... It'll get up to the red line in no time & you'll have the tendency to hold it on the line simply due to wanting more power and speed.

You'll have a massive rush of power for a few seconds, then nothing more than a screaming marvel of engineering waiting to go bang

If you get a specialist you could leave your final gears, 5 & 6 maybe, and lower the ratio of 2, 3 & 4 have the best of both worlds

Thanks for the reply if I could even just keep 6th gear would be fine not looking to use this car for long journeys just a bit of fun and something different since you can't push much power out the 2.0 lump, do you know if any other smaller A3 boxes would fit on? , I have contacted Neil Engineering and got this reply

The simple cost effective answer is that if you do the investigating and supply the parts we will fit them.
We believe that 2 shafts would have to be replaced altering the final drive ratio.

Is there any where else I could contact that could help me out with this thanks.
