Gearbox oil......'synthetic blend'???

I recently changed my gearbox as it was crunching from 1st to 3rd. I put in a box from another s3 which I was told by a mate was perfect. But it's the same. I've done the alignment. Could the gearbox oil I used be affecting it?

I'm using 75w90 'synthetic 'blend'

Is this different to fully synthetic?, and could it be contributing to my gearbox crunching?

It's definitely worse when cold

You need a like spec gearbox oil but with a drop in cold viscosity like a 75W80 .

What is your vw oil spec number ?
