GEARBOX NEEDED - manual, petrol, 6 speed

When replacing my clutch, a local garage has advised they have found a 3 inch hole in the bottom of my gear box. They have said that I need to replace it. Anyone know where to get one from? I have a 57 plate Audi A3 1.8t, petrol, manual, 6 speed.

Ask them for a picture if you had a hole in your gearbox oil would be leaking out.

Tell them to put it back in as it sounds like it's not an issue if you didn't know about it / feel it !

Did they put the hole in the gearbox ? . As stated above if the gearbox had a hole in it before you would probably have noticed an issue. The fact you haven't seems to me to say to me that it's not affecting the operation that much.

2nd and 3rd gear have been whining and they have advised gearbox oil has leaked out. My gearbox code is JWZ however I am struggling to find a used gearbox. I have been offered one with a gear box code KVT. Will this work?

Common on these for the bearing to fail allowing the gears to "eat" the casing
