Gear selection issues

Evening all,

For the last few weeks I have been experiencing some problems in getting my car into 6th gear, tonight I lost everything. The car will reluctantly go into reverse, but I now cannot select any gears apart from 3rd and once in gear it is very very reluctant to come out.

Anyone else had this on a 6-speed box? I'm hoping it's to do with the selection mechanism and not anything within the box itself. I had the gearbox oil, clutch and flywheel replaced earlier this year by my local indy…..

Are you sure this isnt master/slave cylinder related? if the slave was to come away from the bearing arm, it could also cause these symptoms.

Same symptoms I had on a LandRover back in the day. Slave was leaking. Change the master at the same time if this is the case.

Turns out the bush holding the gear lever and selector shaft had failed, Audi do a repair kit so job done and dusted in about an hour......

This sounds like an issue I had, which cleared itself a couple of weeks ago (clutch? Thread).

It has cleared, but I'll investigate before I form out on recon box etc!
