Hello everyone
Car is
Avant b7 140bhp current mileage =50599

Problem is as follows
When selecting gears mainly lower ones 1-2-3 they all feel abit lumpy instead of going in smoothe
Especialy when at lights and in neutral...then when i shift into 1st gear...sometimes i have to put it back into neutral and try again (car is moving)

When engine is off (handbrake on)
Gears feel ok

Also

When i press the clutch down there feels like there is abit preasure/tiny vibration (the feeling you would get in your foot if you had pins and needles....best way to describe it)

Ive had it to a trusty mechanic vag specialist
And says only one way to truly find out is strip it and check...very true however its is still under warranty but runs out at the end of the month

From what i have described..to.the best of my ability
.....what do yous fine chaps and chapes's think it is....and will warranty sort it

Thanks

hi ive got the same car 140 avant 1st can be a bit of a pain to select mines on 85500 had it looked at and told no problem been like it since ive owned it 1 1/2 years sometimes i find lifting of the clutch the tiny fraction it goes in fine but you have a warranty just say it wont selected the gear and ask if its cover first and they dont class it as wear and tear get it striped and checked.

Could be the clutch and/or thrust bearing.Does it bite high?Good test it to find a long incline and put your foot down in top and see if the revs rise too quick

Hi guys, mine has started being funny in the last few days too, when I first start the car on a morning, it's abit hard to get into 1st gear. Reverse gear and all the others are fine, but when the car has warmed up abit 1st gear goes back to normal, had new clutch and flywheel done at Audi 2 months ago and drove spot on until a few days ago? I would also like to know to if anyone has ever changed the gearbox oil on a manual, I know it's not on a schedule to change the oil on a manual, but with nearly hitting 100,000 miles I don't think there would be any harm in maybe changing it. Any thoughts on this guys?

Thanks Ste

Perhaps something to do with it being so cold recently, sitting outside all night in freezing conditions making the gear oil thick until it comes up to temp.

Hi mate thanks for the reply, yeah I was thinking it could be that too, because it has been cold here, it's definitely something to do with the car being on because, when it's switched off I can select the gears fine, there's just one thing that's puzzling me thou, if the car is running first thing and select 1st gear and it's hard to get in, if I knock it back to neutral with my foot still on the clutch then select 1st again it goes straight in no problems which I thought it might of still be hard to get in?

Thanks ste
