Fuel pump/Relay/ or something else

Right guys, my 2.8 wouldnt fire up a few days ago. I noticed the fuel pump wasnt coming on when i turned the ignition on . So I checked the pump relay.

I removed the cover of the top of the relay to have a look and listen , its not working when ignition turned on.
I pressed the contacts of the relay together and I heard the pump come on so I assume my relay is knackered??????????

I'm not sure the pump primes every time? It'll do it the first time then might not to it immediately again until some time has passed?

Hold the contact closed and see if the car will start? If it will, then change the relay, if it wont the ECU's probably not happy about something and has chosen not to close the relay deliberately.

right mate what i did was i pressed the contacts on the relay and started the car. It fired up and kept running as normal.
The weird thing is I turned it off and it fired right back up again without any issues. confused now lol
