Fuel Filter!

Ok so could do with some advice please.
Somw of you may know from a while back that the clips on my fuel filter where broken by the previous or so i thought, just had alook at the fuel filter and to me it looks fine but im not sure, here are two pics of the clips that mate to the fuel filter, what you guys think?



So the questions.
How doe the clips connect to the filter, do they push on and just held in or what?
Also how is the filter held in place?

hi mate found this pic on the web it shows how the clip works. The 'duck bill clip' comes on the new filter or should do. You need to press the outer clip with a pair of thin nose pliers to release it.

The filter is normally held on with a type of 'p' or 'd' clip, meaning... its a band that goes around the filter with a bolt that attaches to the car, similar to this

Thanks ash. I think the mechanic got a bit muddled up then as it looks like what holds the fuel filter in is broke as theres a tie wrap around it instead of the clip you showed.
But back to the fuel filter, the new one ive got at home just has two tubes, one at either end so will they just push into the fuel lines? Is that clear lol or a bit confusing?

thats not un common mate, i've seen several held on with cable ties, jubilee clips and even string! you can buy replacement holders from motorfactors that have a rubber insert to protect the filter from damage, like this... but bigger

Or thats sound then. But do the fuel lines just pull on and off the filter then? When i had alook it just looks like rubber bungs that go over the ends on the filter!

in your pictures above the dirty looking elbow piece is the clip its self, you will need to press this with pliers to expand it to get it to come off the filter. Be careful though if you break it your screwed as its part of the fuel line.

reviving an old thread, can someone confirm where the fuel filter is located please?

Infront of the drivers side rear wheel just inside the side skirt. Have a look underneath you can't miss it.
