When I called to arrange my second service a couple of months ago they service guy at Soton Audi asked if I wanted the fuel filter done as it is due at 40k, as I had a reasonable way to go until then I said I'd do it later.

As 40k is coming up, I decided to check the book and oddly, it says it's due at 57k, but for all other diesel engines it says 38k... any ideas why the A3 would be different considering they're all basically the same engine?

For what it costs, it's worth getting it done in my opinion...57k is a long time!

I thought the same, I just found it odd that the book only had a difference for the A3... :)

The standard service regime is every 60k, however I change mine every 20k as a matter of course, & for what it costs it should probably considered as an annual service part.

I concur.

I change mine every time I service the car. Hard to justify not doing it for the cost of the part.
