hello
so i know its coming up to summer, but I live in Barnsley and it seems to have its own weather system here, so bad weather is always just round the corner....

i currently have 18" alloys running 225/40 zr18 rubber. I have in my garage a set of used once winter tyres which are 205/55 r16. if i get some 16" alloys would i be able to use them?

according to this wheel visual calculator it should be ok....

sorry, that image has uploaded huge...
this says it should be ok, but is there something else i need to consider? the A3 is quattro

cheers

Yes. I have a set of 16s from my old golf with winters that fit mine fine.

do i have to worry about offset with the different alloys - whatever offset is...

Offset is how far the centre fixing point of the wheel is from the actual middle. A3 and golf are all in same range around et52 anything from et 45 to et 58 would be fine. More important is getting the pcd right, that's the no of bolt holes and distance between the. You need 5x120 . This is 5 holes 120mm apart. Any golf mark 5 onwards would be fine for example. Not mark 4 as they have a different pattern entirely.
