Wanted to brighten up Ambient lighting and thought of brilliant idea.
Had a 5 metre reel with 12V crisp white leds lying around so decided to stuck some of them into the footwell lamps and see if they work.
Leds are divided into sections of three so cut out one section, stripped connectors (waterproof strip), add some solder and aligned with original led circuit

Solder on top of original led

Solder is like solder. Tine up terminals, solder hem on to the prongs and job done.

Looking at it now, it was a proper cowboy job. LOL
It did worked though so cannot complaint.

Upgraded it not long after anyway

Do you know what size bulbs are

Did this in my S5 - got the bulbs from Rocket Wires— really bright and dimable too.

I like them are they just straight swap

Yep straight swap. just popped the lens cover , unclipped the led board (bulb) and replaced with the new one. Then popped it all back in.

The ones in the pics only took a couple of mins to swap. The only issue I had was doing the ones for the rear the passenger footwells. My S5 is a coupe so getting access under the bottom at the back of the front seats was tight (understatement) to begin with and the wiring harness is only just long enough to pop the lamp holders out. Needed to be a contortionist to get them back in and ended up cricking my neck In process

if it’s a saloon then the rear passenger footwells should be a lot easier

Are the q3 the same for bulbs as I have a q3 2012
