Facelift Flashing plug and limp mode

I have just bought a 2012 plate Audi A3 tdi 2.0 sline. 42,000 miles on clock and full Audi service history.

Passed mot yesterday with no advisories. Full service as well this week.

I was driving it home and after 30 mins going down a bi pass the power went on the car and there was a yellow plug flashing on dash.

I turned engine off and on again and the light had gone and the power was back to normal.

I have 6 months full warranty on the car but don’t want to have ongoing problems with it having only just collected it.

Advise please. Thank you

I’d take it back to the garage that did the mot and get a diagnostic done. Sounds a bit of a coincidence.

You will need a code scanner and see what it’s reading. Could be 100 different things from something simple like a misfire to something catastrophic.
Take it back to supplying dealer and give them a chance to sort it.

As it has warranty let the garage you bought it from have it and let them sort it. That’s why we pay for warranties

With the age/mileage of the car(without a scan for the codes!) i'm guessing clocked up turbo vanes and sticking turbo actuator ?

"if" it is, get a bottle of Wynns diesel turbo cleaner and pop that in before a full fill up................

Even if it isn't get some anyway to give the turbo a good clean!

The dealer is saying is an intermittent fault and could have been caused by it not having a good run???

He won’t replace the value unless it does it again in the next few days!

I asked for an upgrade on the warranty as the warranty he has give me does NOT cover emissions....

Advice please?

I’ve paid £8900 for this car on 41500 miles on a hire purchase and the finance company are aware and have asked me to try and resolve it with the dealer first.

If you only had it a few days then you are in a position to reject it.
Make sure you take note of when you contacted dealer and their response.
Give them a chance to sort it and if it’s not satisfactory then reject it. This is where you keep notes of all contact etc.
Egr valve will be around £3-400 to replace possibly more depending on engine/car so it’s not terribly expensive if the rest of the cars is fine and you are happy with it.

Holy cr4p that’s expensive.
Maybe a lot more labour involved in the a3 to get to the egr. Never had to do one on an a3. Seen it in many other cars though.

Exactly how long have you had the car? If a very short time then I think you are justified in asking them to fix it or your money back.
But if you’ve only just bought it, why get it mot’d. Would have thought if it was due the dealer would have done it.

It had an mot 4 days ago and nothing came up. He’s been arguing and arguing saying it doesn’t need replacing.

Now he’s backed down after I’ve quoted the consumer rights act 2015!!!

£1200 will be pretty much all the profit on the car so I can understand it from a dealer perspective.
As I said give them a chance and if you aren’t happy walk away and get your money back.
