FL S3 and Golf R exhaust, are they the same?

Recently got a Facelift 66plate S3, it’s come fitted with what looks like a resonator delete pipe, I think replacing the oem middle silencer, being a bit older I’m not a fan of the extra noise (only noticeable in high revs mind), I want to replace it back with an oem one, having seen a few center boxes for sale for Golf R’s, are they interchangeable ? A friend mentioned the S3 had valves in them meaning the golf r one wouldn’t work but interested to know if anyone knows here, or has done the swap, better still.. does anyone want to swap my res delete for their oem one ?

My car is a 3 door are the exhausts any different to the sportback and saloon ?

Really want to swap it back to OEM as the noise just isn’t doing it for me and is damping the experience for me, brilliant car tho!

From what I can find the part number you require for a Hatchback (PR-K8G) S3 being the 3-door is 5Q0253409B. This is the same part for all S3 mk3 being the 8V variant fitting both PFL and FL. The Sportback 5-door hatch (PR-K8R) and the Saloon/Limo (PR-K8S) have a different part number. I can't confirm if the Golf R mk7/mk7.5 item will fit but I'll be very very surprised if it doesn't and for that matter I'm sure there are other VAG models that will also fit but can't find any info to conclusively confirm. I have found this Golf R Estate centre box on eBay click me that any good exhaust specialist will be able to adapt to fit your car. Bosal are the original exhaust manufacturer but don't list anything for the S3 in their catalogue. You could always search for Hatchback S3 being broken on eBay and ask if they still have the original centre box and get a price, just a thought.
