Need your advice please.

My S3 is showing an oil change is due at 15000 miles.

Called audi Guildford and they have quoted £400+ and for a first service it sounds a bit expensive. Never paid more than 250-300 with MBZ or BMW.

Is it how much it is?

Thank you

It's around that price down here (Cambridgeshire -£450) but I go to a local independent who's miles better and a lot cheaper.

Yep, Audi labour rates and parts prices are extortionate. There are (fortunately for me) three local VAG specialists near me, and that keeps the price of servicing down to £100-125'ish - here are some examples, and genuine parts are used throughout, so warranty safe. Only minor drawback is neither have paid for the privilege of updating the Audi electronic service record, so I get to keep my paperwork, like in the old days :)

15,000 mile? Bit early to pop up isn't it...How old is the car?

£400+ I'd expect that for an Audi service and inspection. My S3's first service with Audi which was just an oil change was around £210.

My A5's second service Audi wanted £452, my local Indy £198 using genuine Audi parts and updating the service on the Audi system.

The car is only 18 months old and I was expecting oil change to come up around 20,000miles.

The mmi should show you both the oil service and inspection service due dates, I think that that Audi have quoted for both to be done together if this is your first ever service with the car?

How many miles are you on? normally you are set to either yearly fixed servicing if you do under 10,000 per year, or flexible/2 years if you do over 10,000 per year.

At the moment I am just under 15,000 miles and never serviced it yet since I had the car

So bang on 10k per year, did they ask you what milage you did before you collected the car? They've put you on flexible service.

...just found this which will explain it better:

£200+ for a look around that any competent garage should do anyway? One of the companies I linked to do a full VCDS scan as a matter of course as well. As far as I can see, the Audi "Inspection Service" is just a revenue generator, possibly to offset the losses from people getting their cars serviced outside the dealer network. I don't recall having any "inspection" services coming up on my 2014 A4.

If the car is set to "variable" service the notification will come up when the sensors in the engine think the oil needs changing. If it's set to "fixed interval" it will come up at around 9,000 miles. The first service is just an oil change. The second service at 18.000 is an oil change and inspection.
I now have a 2.0TDI 190 Q3 quattro but I had nine A3s before that. I used to do more miles than I do know and the A3 was set to Variable and told me it need an oil change at around 19,000. As I do less miles now my Q3 is set to fixed service and just had it's first oil change service at just under 9,000. I don't know the actual cost because I purchased a service agreement which cost £374 and covers the first two services. The cost of the two services without the Service Plan would have been ££239(first) and £400 (second) thus saving £266 I should contact your dealer and ask if you can have a Service Plans on your car. The price I paid included a 20% discount that was being offered at the time. It may well be still be available.

That's why I use an indy, even on a oil service they do an inspection as standard!

My Audi online record is intact as well:

Depends how you drive it mate and a lot of stop/start/short journeys will decrease the life of the oil.

Mine is 68 plate feb 2019 and most of my miles are done on motorway and country lanes. Called another dealer nearby and they still have that deal for 374. Will have to fork out the cash as my car had to go back 3 times to dealer to replace gearbox, mechatronics and exhaust system and I don't want to void the warranty by going to indie garage

It was an official Audi offer that gave a £20% discount on the next 2 services for £374 if the car was under 3 years old.......but that offer has definitely been withdrawn.
The full price is currently £468....which is still good compared with paying for 2 services on the day.
If a dealer told you they can do 2 services for £374 then this is something they are offering specific to that dealership, it has nothing to do with Audi.
Either that or they have simply made a mistake, so I would double check if I was you.

You don't, as long as they use genuine Audi parts and do the service when needed your warranty stays intact!

I asked Audi UK when I had my S3, this was the reply:

And that ^ has been the case since the "block exemption" legislation of 2002.
Yep, but it's always nice to have it in writing in case they do try to get out of something ;)

I did it again last year with this A5, I asked specifically if by using an indy if it would go against me if I gave the car back at the end of the pcp...they replied:

"Good afternoon Mr ********

Thank you for contacting Audi Financial Services.

In regards to having your vehicle serviced, the servicing does not need to take place at an Audi garage, we would always recommend using an Audi approved garage and genuine Audi approved parts are required.

If Audi approved parts are used this should not result in additional charges when handing the vehicle back.

Should you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us."

Audi is such a ripoff.
My local uses normal Audi approved 504/507 oil and filter for £50.00 or you can pay extra and get ATS to do it with Mobil 1 for 85.00.

I have driven 3 different S3s, including mine and all of them where making seat noises which makes me feel like I am in 1960s caddy.
And I'm having so many problems with mine ots unbelievable and unacceptable for £40k car
