Have looked into my first oil change service, car says its due in 56 days but by that time the car will only be 8 months old, thought it would have been at the 1 year old stage. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

It all depends on how many miles you do. If no more than 10K miles/annum, then the mmi should be set to fixed (annual) servicing.
More than 10K it should be on the variable schedule, where the mmi works out the servicing dependant on driving etc.

When the car was new, the dealer should have set it to fixed if you expected low mileage. Variable is the default.

Look inside you manual and see when the PDI was done, it will have been set from that date. OR if you do a lot of stop-start runs that can decrease the oil life.

The car will monitor the oil quality and your driving style also if your on variable. It will effect your service life.

That is when it was set/started to run down from then. I'd ask them to change it tbh, or you are 4 months too early for this service and each service after! Not a problem some may say, but when you come to sell it, you may find a big service is due at that time, where if you change it now and then sell the car at the same time in the future, the big service wouldn't be due until 4 month after you sell it ;) (if you see what I mean?).

How many miles are you on now? If you will be under 10k in 4 month time when the car is 12 month 'on the road' I'd change it for sure.

Going to see if i can get it set back a couple as it has sat unused and not registered for 4 month which has eating into the time that its due its oil change.

3500, it says due in 2 month or at 6000. pcp deal is 20000 over 4 years as i only use it weekends really.

Yeah get it set back and just do it bang on 12 months from collection.

I'd also drop Audi UK an email and ask for their input and see if it's OK to do it, at least then if something were to happen and they said you missed your 1st service you'd be covered. I did it when I went to take my car to an Audi specialist rather than the main dealer, I asked if it was OK:

Managed to contact them there, they have it booked in for a health check and they will determine after that whether it needs its first service in july. No doubt they will say it does, also need them to check my audi connect when its in but thats another story

Evening people.

As I think more into the free servicing I was offered as part of my s3 saloon deal I beginning to think it may only be the major service inc & not oil changes etc.
How many services will I require over my 4 year pcp, 10k yearly, inc oil changes minor services ? Has my sales advisor been a bit crafty here as he has not determined what is actually included in "free servicing" ? I will be ringing tomorrow to clarify but if you guys have a opinion on this :eyes::laughing: Would be nice for you fellow 10k s3 owners to share servicing history

Mine:
After 1 year- oil & filter, checks.
After 2 years- oil & filter, inspection, pollen filter.

I think the 3rd one is a bigger one where they change some fluids and air filter as well as the oil/filter.

First service was with Audi, the year after independent for this reason:

Cheshire Oaks Audi: £365
Crewe Audi: £401.19
Liverpool Audi: £439.80
Independent Audi specialist £220.

First of all are you really going to keep the car 4 years?

For me l haven't been punctual with the servicing intervals it's supposed to be every 9k miles, l had it done at 12k and then 11k miles, the service plan should cover all inspections,if not? it's not worth taking out such a policy, but it definitely should cover them

I should imagine I will upgrading to the new era s3 in a few years, depending on what audi can offer. Regardless I wouldn't be keeping her for the full term !

Where there any raised eye brows with your un-punctual service style ?

I've sent over a email to my sales advisor regarding clarifying what my "free servicing" offer, contains.

No mate they didn't bat a eyelid

My A3 is set to Flexible Service interval and I currently do around 14k miles a year. If this A3 is anything like my previous ones the first service will be due at 19k miles and the second at 38k. With my previous A3 I did a total of 35k so I only paid for one service.

So called Audi Specialists will always be cheaper but are not able to update anything issued by Audi AG.

What do you mean sorry?

From time to time Audi AG in Germany issue various updates to the software on cars they have built. When you car goes in to a dealer it is connected to their computer system which checks the Audi AG system to see if their are any for your particular car.

A 'specialist' is not able to do this as they have no access to the Audi AG computer systems.

My car has never received any updates over 2 services , if it's to get serviced again in my ownership it will not be done by Audi

Its going to the dealership next week for a health check to see if it needs a service as i think it should be in 6 month time when its a year registered as appose to july when its a year delivered and they also are going to sort out my audi connect which as only ever worked 2 days since ownership back in december.

My previous A3 only had one service whilst I owned it and it did have a software update when it was serviced.
